Each custom railing is shipped with a signed Artists Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Rob. Whether you want an entirely new design theme, or you just need one of our designs in a different size our team will help you create the perfect custom railing or balustrade. We will answer all of your questions before we begin cutting any metal. We can also use your own photographs in your custom design. Silhouettes of dogs - sorry no cat people yet - or children are popular examples as well as aircraft, boats and landmarks. Rob can even use stick figures on a napkin (just send us a snapshot from your phone) as inspiration for your custom railing whether it will be used on a deck, staircase, balcony or loft. We have turned several artists paintings into custom metal railings which included salmon swimming upstream in Alaska and a field of poppies.   ST6-12 Mountain Lake Design Decorative Panel Insert. This product is designed by artist Rob Gerdin, fabricated with laser processing of a solid sheet of 10 gauge steel (1/8" thickness). The design is then sandblasted and coated to clients choice of powder coat colors. Primer should be added to products you want to use outdoors. This product is intended to be supported by a top and bottom horizontal support log or wood hand and foot rail that is grooved and the panel sits in.   NatureRails 30x96x10 gauge steel mountain lake scene is the highlight of this decorative panel insert. Ready to install into your own wood hand and foot railing support system. Product meets 4" space requirements per building code. This panel is intended for use for railing finish heights of 36" total. Product is exactly 30" height x 96" width. NatureRails makes many products, but what we have likely become most well-known for are our Decorative Railing Inserts. Artist and owner, Rob Gerdin solved his own construction challenge in 1999 when building his log home in Colorado. Rob was told that he would be receiving 5300 log spindles to install, one by one into his new Swedish cope log style home staircase. Given the amount of natural wood in the home already with exterior walls, ceilings and structural open beams in the house, Rob decided he had enough. Already breaking up the wood with interior painted walls, tile and carpet, he took it a step further, creating his own decorative railing inserts to lesson the amount of wood in the home. This also created a stunning focal point in the main family living area. With 33-foot ceilings in the great room it was the perfect place to have the decorative railing inserts installed as you walk into the front door and into the room. Installing decorative railing inserts into your current wood staircase can actually be quite easy as this before and after photo shows. The decorative railing inserts simply needed a top and bottom flat bar welded to the panel, and some counter sunk holes placed on the flat bar to reinstall into the old stair case after removal of the wood spindles.
